Umpire Courses 2020/21
Coronavirus – impact on Umpires courses
The Malta Cricket Association had planned to run several courses this year. These have been suspended pending the outcome of the coronavirus pandemic.
However, we are delighted to announce a partnership with the ECB and ICC that will allow our officials to have access to two free online courses. These courses are a great way for aspiring umpires to get involved and for experienced umpires to refresh their umpiring skills in readiness of the upcoming season.
Basics of Umpiring – Register now, here.
This course is aimed at umpires who want to learn the fundamental laws and basic fieldcraft. It is ideal for those players who are required to the umpire.
Umpire Stage One – Register now, here.
This course is designed to give an overview of the basic Laws of the game and how to apply them. It introduces the principles of fieldcraft and match management. This course is an ideal introduction for new club umpires, a refresher for existing umpires and the first step for those who aspire to umpire at higher levels.
All umpires should also complete:
- MCC eLearning “Laws of Cricket Online Course” &
- Exam questions, certificate and evaluation – Basic level exam & Intermediate level exam
This eLearning programme concentrates on the teaching of Laws knowledge, rather than the field-craft and man-management side of umpiring, which will be taught at a local level. The programme is split into two parts. Firstly, the interactive modules below detail the Laws in practice, with the use of photos, videos and animation.
Concussion Education eLearning module

Exam questions, certificate and evaluation
The second part is a multiple-choice exam-based assessment, split into two levels of difficulty.
To increase your score, you can take this test as many times as you wish.
